Ellington, CT is a charming town with a population (as of 2000 Census) of 12,921.  Because the town has been rapidly growing and is undergoing suburbanization, as of 2009, the population was estimated as 14,568.  Ellington has experienced the 6th fastest growth rate in all Connecticut towns, changing it from a rural farming town into a bedroom community.  This Tolland County community was incorporated from East Windsor in May 1786.  The town of Ellington is bordered by Enfield, Somers, Stafford, Willington, Tolland, Vernon, East Windsor and South Windsor.  The panhandle of the this CT area extends to the east to the Willimantic River and includes Crystal Lake.
